The disconnect of Democrats.

The current tempest in a teapot is the Texas redistricting story where Democats not getting their way have left the state in an attempt to stymie redrawing of district lines in the state. In those rabid Dem supporting circles, there is the usual righteous indignation over the Texas move. How dare the state redraw district lines, WE WILL FIGHT! Say the Democrats who have left the state and Democrats across the country are cheering them on!

There’s just one problem with all the righteousness and rhetoric by our Democratic friends who talk about defending democracy and standing up for what’s right. You see, the problem is simply they are nothing more than a bunch of hypocrites showing once again how Democrats really are nothing more than the power hungry nazis and fascists they like to call people they disagree with.

Right about now no doubt, if you’re on that side of the political spectrum your blood is beginning to boil but the truth is this… the states that the Texan Democrats made flight to? Ummmm… hate to tell you this but Democrats have done exactly the same thing they are up in arms about now and they’ve done it shamelessly and defended their actions. As a matter of fact in New York where the idiotic and ineffectual Governor has come out and made a statement about it?

Well, it was so bad in New York that the court actually threw the Democrats gerrymandering out and had any redistricting done under the supervision of the court because Democrats actually went that far over the top and are still actually still fighting against even anything remotely fair:

When Charlie Cook looks out across South Lincoln Avenue through the front window of her downtown O’Fallon bakery, she’s looking into a different congressional district. It’s a boundary line that splits the southwestern Illinois town practically in half.
“It seems like cherry-picking as far as the representatives are choosing their demographics,” said Cook, 38, a lifelong O’Fallon resident who opened the Happy Bakery eight years ago.
“I don’t really support the idea of our representation being split that way just because anyone from O’Fallon should be able to go to the same representatives and be heard.”

So, as we see once again the RULES FOR THEE AND NOT FOR ME crowd is going at it once again and projecting on others as a cover for their own actions. At this point Greg Abbott has ordered Texas State Police to arrest any Democratic members still within the state for not showing up to work as a means to stop the workings of government but also on the table is removing these same folks from their positions since they don’t appear to want to show up and do their jobs.

Better still is this little jewel that is on the table…

Abbott claimed Monday that the Democrats could face bribery charges if their costs while out of state are being covered by others. 

“I think based upon comments made by legislators themselves, they face a possibility of facing bribery charges, which is a second-degree felony in the state of Texas, there's one way to cure that, and that is if they get back to the state of Texas and make quorum today at a hearing that we have at 3 o'clock, they can cure themselves of any quid pro quo that would subject them to potential bribery charges,” Abbott said.

…and which I’m fairly certain is going to be aggressively pursued if and when these folks do return to Texas because they aren’t footing the bills themselves (oh and let’s not forget that the climate obsessed Dems flew to Illinois on a private jet - DAMN THEIR CARBON FOOTPRINT!).

State lawmakers in Texas make just $7,200 a year. A group of Democratic legislators spent roughly four times that amount to take a private jet to Illinois in an attempt to block their Republican counterparts from passing a new congressional map. But they didn’t have to worry about the price tag—because Beto O’Rourke’s PAC picked it up.

That’s according to a report in the Texas Tribune, which cited two people involved in the effort to raise funds for Texas Democrats’ walkout. O'Rourke’s PAC, Powered by People, is “armed with a $3.5 million war chest” and has covered most of the costs associated with the walkout so far, including “air transport, lodging, and logistical support,” the outlet reported. Every dollar the group receives going forward will go toward supporting the walkout.

O’Rourke’s emergence as the walkout’s financier could land him in legal trouble. Lawmakers who flee Texas to prevent the state legislature from having enough members to pass laws are subject to $500-a-day fines under Texas house rules, which also prevent walkout participants from soliciting political contributions to pay those fines. Republican governor Greg Abbott has said that “any other person who ‘offers, confers, or agrees to confer’” such contributions to the “fleeing Democrat House members” may be in violation of state bribery laws.
